Journal Spread

Journal spread
acrylic on paper
5.50" x 8.50"

I’m experimenting in a commercially-made journal, the Strathmore Visual Journal. This is the 140 lb. watercolor one. Not sure I like the spiral across the spread but it does help working completely flat. I found this quote last week and really love it.

  1. I think I agree with your reservations about the spiral binding.

Hey, check out this snap of one of my sketchbooks. It has an open spiral that would allow you to remove pages and reinsert them when done. It's made by Canson-Talens, Inc. I don't know if they make something similar for watercolor paper but it might be worth a look.

    Hope this helps.

  2. That looks like a good idea you have, Vincent. Still, I do like making my own journals without the spiral binding. Have you ever tried making your own books?

  3. No, I've never entertained the idea so far but I know exactly who to ask for advice if I ever do! Your journals always look so lovingly crafted and tailor-made for their specific purpose.
